Bottom Bracket BB86 Press ๐๏ธ
Bench press I know, but the bottom bracket press is completely new to me…
Earlier on I’ve already posted about these confusing bottom brackets. Since the cable routing into the frame has been done (which is an easy job without having the bottom bracket installed) it was time to press the bottom bracket into the frame. I was a bit scared this step would crack my frame and made my project a complete failure.
To grease or not to grease? There seems to be a variety of opinions about whether you should put a bit of grease on it. After reading various topics on various forums I decided to not grease it and press it in dry.
Job done! ๐ฏ
It went in very smooth. No scary cracking sounds or whatsoever. I feel relieved! ๐
(not sure what the difference is but make sure you check the Left/Right marker on the unit as shown in the first image)

I’ve watched the video below (multiple times) to see how it should be done.
The Dura Ace crank has been installed as well.

I’ve watched the video below as a guideline.
Any creaking? I was debating between the BB92 from Shimano and this part which others have recommended (https://www.ebay.com/itm/274589296482).
No creaking, at least not the first 25km Iโve done so far.
Did you use the included bb or order a separate one?
Hi Bikoiv, There was no BB included so I had to buy one.
See https://roadmeister.cc/bottom-bracket/
What is that BB press kit you have in the second photograph? It looks like something you purchased but I did not see that on your shopping list.
Good point. I think this is the one I’ve got:
